Ben is a highly promising defensive player who was signed on to first team forms only a few weeks after linking up with the City under-18s where he made a very impressive start to his City career to catch the eye of first team boss Tim Harris. In his first City youth team game he guided the side through a tricky FA Youth Cup tie against Bridgwater Town, not only scoring on his debut but going on to slot the winning spot kick in nervy penalty shoot-out. Was drafted straight into a first team friendly against the RAF where he put in another calm and disciplined display.

Has yet to make his first team debut but has already featured on the bench, and although likely to be given more time to consolidate in the youth team Ashford seems set for a bright future at Meadow Park.
